Candidates Meet with the Residents on the Short Term Rental Issue

On June 2nd, Anthony Costanza, Lisa Barrett, and Michael Voigt met with Irondequoit residents on the issue of short tern rentals in the town. The Town of Irondequoit Board has yet to meet with residents to collect first-hand knowledge of the of this controversial issue within the town.

As one resident stated, "The current Board has done nothing to research the issue. They have never met with one resident. Bizarrely they have bought a simplistic resolution in front of themselves to deny short term rentals when short term rentals are already NOT permitted under Town of Irondequoit Ordinance in residential districts. They can't even arrive at a decision on their own resolution. But what truly boggles my mind is why they just don't enforce the current law."

The candidates are currently working together with town residents to develop a comprehensive plan to permit, register, manage, and police short term rentals in certain zoned areas in the town. Once elected this draft proposal that is beneficial to all residents, not just some, will be enacted into law.
